The three-day National Aerolympics-2018 will start in the city on Monday.
The event focuses on promoting interest in aeronautics among students of classes 10-12 all over India. Twenty-two teams from 11 states are participating in the event, said C Kalaivannan, vice-chairman, Aeronautical Society of India, Bengaluru branch.
"Aeronautics is the fastest-developing sector. There is 20% to 25% increase in the number of air passengers every year. In the coming days, aeronautics and the air force will create a lot of job opportunities. But we don't have the right infrastructure and training facilities to prepare our students," Kalaivannan added. According to him, such events help ignite the passion for aeronautics in children's hearts.
