A 35-year-old woman allegedly killed her two children before taking her own life in northeastern Bengaluru, the police said on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Kusuma, a homemaker; her six-year-old son, Shreyan; and her daughter, Charvi, aged one year and nine months.
The Kodigehalli police were alerted to the incident on Wednesday evening.
“Preliminary evidence suggests that the woman strangled her children before dying by suicide,” said Sajeeth VJ, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast). “We are awaiting a detailed autopsy report.”
Kusuma, who married Suresh — an accountant at a private firm in Bengaluru — in 2015, lived with her husband, two children, and father-in-law in the Kodigehalli area. Her mother-in-law had passed away some time ago, the police said. “Initial investigations indicate possible family issues,” Sajeeth said.
Kusuma left behind a note stating that no one was responsible for the deaths and did not make any allegations. Authorities are also awaiting a detailed forensic science laboratory (FSL) report.
Investigators said Suresh was at work when the incident occurred. He discovered the bodies upon returning home and alerted the authorities.
“A case has been registered, and the investigation is ongoing to uncover further details,” the DCP added.
