55-year-old hit by vehicle, dies on spot

A 55-year-old pedestrian was killed on the spot after a vehicle knocked him down on Mysuru Road in the early hours of Friday.

Ningappa V, a native of Channapatna, had come to the city to visit his daughter, who resides in Deepanjalinagar, the police said.

According to the police, the accident occurred around 3.30 am between the Guddadahalli and Satellite Bus Stand junction. The police suspect Ningappa's leg was crushed and he died due to excessive bleeding.

Passersby noticed Ningappa lying in a pool of blood and alerted the police, following which the traffic police rushed to the spot. However, they were unable to identify the person. They found a note in the victim's pocket with a few phone numbers scribbled on it. One of the numbers belonged to his daughter, Latha, who along with her husband came and identified the body.

The Byatrayanapura traffic police have registered a hit-and-run case.
