The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ended its eight-day-long hunger strike against the formation of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in the city on Wednesday.
Police detained around 100 members, including six activists who were on hunger strike for eight days, when they tried to lay siege Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s official residence.
The members withdrew their hunger strike on the insistence of freedom fighter H S Doreswamy, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other party men.
Three AAP activists sustained minor injuries when police tried to prevent them from setting out of Freedom Park towards Siddaramaiah’s residence. AAP said they will continue their protest against the government.
AAP working committee members will meet to chalk out their future course of action against the government as part of their continuous campaign for disbanding the ACB.
Activists condemned the police for allegedly caning them. They alleged that the police manhandled those on hunger strike. AAP members had launched the hunger strike on March 8.
