The Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) recently launched its youth wing called ‘Young Communicators Club’ (YCC), particularly for journalism, mass communication, PR and business management students from various colleges and universities across the country.
PRCI has been operating in 21 cities across the country promoting PR and communication in the professional world and in the society.
The Bangalore chapter has begun with about 500 student members from 20 colleges. Students from across the State will be enrolled subsequently in YCC.
M B Jayaram, founder and advisor of YCC, and chief mentor and chairman emeritus of PRCI, says, “The club is open to only journalism, PR and students of business management. We will soon extend this initiative to include students of other courses as well. The students will be trained to act as a bridge between the government and the people in general.”
He further points out that, to start with, the initiative is open to graduates who are always brimming with ideas. “We will hold regular workshops and rope in the best from the industry to train the students,” he says after the launch.
He says the initiative is actively supported by eminent academicians, professors of prestigious colleges and universities in the State and communication professionals from the industry.
Neetu Sharma, lecturer, Jain University and chief coordinator, YCC (Bangalore Chapter) says, “the mission of the club is to represent the youth in the country under a single non-political and non-governmental umbrella to help people communicate to the society, bring in leadership movement and help each other become responsible citizens with positive attitude.”
She points out that the main objective is to have the students of the club regularly communicate with purpose and responsibility towards a better society and bring in accountability in leadership.
“We will work to bridge the gap between the academics, corporate and society at large,” she adds.
