Home Minister G Parameshwara on Wednesday said action would be taken against police officials who had attacked media personnel on Monday and Tuesday during the protest staged by the garment factory workers condemning the Centre’s new rule on Provident Fund withdrawal.

As many as three media personnel were attacked by the police.
Speaking to reporters after accepting a representation from journalists against the police brutality, Parameshwara  said that he had already tendered an apology to the injured media personnel.

Stringent action

“Stringent action will be taken against the accused policemen. The department will safeguard the interest of the journalists,” the Home Minister added.
