The Department of Health and Family Welfare is contemplating action against the two doctors who allegedly administered an overdose of anaesthesia to 3-year-old Mariyam Kousar at a City hospital.
Sources in the department said a committee formed to look into the alleged medical negligence case would submit its report in three days.
However, higher officials in the department, who were part of the committee headed by Geetha Nyamagoudar, Director of Health and Family Welfare, refused to divulge details about the findings stating that the report was in “a sealed cover”.
“We are awaiting the arrival of the principal secretary of the department and the details would not be revealed till he is back,” the officials said.
Minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khader said the findings of the committee would be made public on Friday after Madan Gopal, Principal Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare, returned to the City.
Meanwhile, members of Kousar’s family, who claim that an overdose of anaesthesia administered by the doctors at Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedic Hospital led to hypoxia, brain damage and other complications in their child, will stage a protest near Town Hall on Thursday at 11 am.
Sources said Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Dinesh Gundu Rao will likely visit Kousar at the hospital on Wednesday. She is said to be recovering at Malathi Manipal Hospital.
