Increased use of public transportation and encouraging people's participation in the growth and development plans of the city echoed at 'Bangalore Matters', an interactive session organised on Tuesday to address Bengaluru's civic issues.
"There is no fix for traffic woes without using public transport on a large-scale," said V Ravichandar, chairman, Feedback Consulting.
"A city like Mumbai which has more population than Bangalore has a vehicle population of about 40 lakh. But our city has more than 72 lakh vehicles," said Priya Chetty Rajagopal, an activist.
Priya, one of those who opposed the steel flyover project from Basaveshwara Circle to Hebbal, reminisced how she steered the #steelflyoverbeda campaign.
"When the proposed flyover was not addressing the basic issue of public transport, why do it at all?" said Priya.
