The condition of actor-turned- politician and Karnataka Housing Minister Ambareesh is stable but he will be on ventilator for next two days, a doctor attending on him at a private hospital here said.

The 61-year-old leader was admitted to the hospital on February 21 after he complained of breathlessness.

"At present Ambareesh continues to be on ventilator and other medical support including IV antibiotics, nebulisers, feeding and other supportive measures. He is pain free with continuous sedation,"  Dr K S Sathish of Vikarm Hospital said.

"Our plan for next 24-48 hours is to optimise respiratory function and minimise his ventilator supports. His overall condition is stable as on today and improving gradually," he added.

A decision to remove the ventilator was supposed to be taken this morning but a team of specialist doctors monitoring his health took a decision against it, he said.
