Thousands of anganwadi workers and assistants will converge on the city on Tuesday as part of the massive ‘Bengaluru Chalo’ rally reiterating various demands.

Workers will arrive at the Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna railway station from various districts at 11 am and will go on a protest march to Freedom Park for the rally.

A press statement released by AITUC stated that the workers have been demanding free health care and ESI facilities, an increase to their honorarium and pension among other things.

“The protest march will start from the KSR railway station at 11 am and culminate in a rally at Freedom Park. A memorandum will be submitted to Women and Child Development Minister Shashikala Jolle during the rally,” an AITUC spokesperson said.

The protest march would likely disrupt traffic at the Central Business District (CBD) areas, including Race Course Road, Sheshadri Road, KG Road, Ambedkar Veedhi and adjoining areas.
