Sai Kuteera, a five-storey apartment complex, is found to have eight Covid patients over a week, from February 25 to March 3, the BBMP declared on Friday.

BBMP officials are investigating the super-spreader event responsible for the outbreak in the apartment, located in ward 197, Vasanthpura, Chikkalasandra. It has eight units on each floor. In all, the building has 108 residents in 40 units, while 10 units are vacant.

The secondary contacts of the 108 residents were tested on February 26 and 27. Two of them tested positive.

As per the protocol, contacts of the Covid patients must be tested on day 1 and day 7. Accordingly, on day 7, which was March 3, 60 more individuals were tested and two of them were found positive. Eight individuals were found positive so far.

All the floors of the building were sanitised and contained. In line with the protocol, the apartment complex has been declared a ‘cluster’ and containment measures have been taken, said Prasad.
