The State government on Thursday decided to form a Legislative Assembly committee to look into the alleged irregularities in implementing the controversial Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project.

Announcing this in the Assembly, PWD Minister H C Mahadevappa said though the government signed the framework agreement (FWA) with the project promoter way back in 1997, hardly 50 km of the road has been completed.

The House committee will look into all the issues raised by the members pertaining to the project, he added.

The combined opposition, the BJP and the JD(S), had on Wednesday demanded a House committee probe into the project, alleging that the promoter, Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE), had hoodwinked the government and caused huge loss to the exchequer. They also alleged that the promoter had violated the FWA.
