On Tuesday, an auto driver, who was entrusted with the task of delivering mails to post offices 3, 4, 25 and 37, dropped a bag containing about 400 mails on Residency Road.
The auto driver, who lost the bag, blamed it on heavy traffic. Post Master Yoganand of Museum Road Post Office said: “The auto driver who was incharge of delivering the mails said he could not hear the sound when the bag containing mails fell, due to heavy traffic.”
Authorities informed
The bag was lying on the road throughout the night. Passersby who found the bag later informed the Museum Road Post Office.
“Though, the mails did not fall under our jurisdiction, I contacted the Superintendent of Railway Mail Service and directed my men to deliver the mails based on his instructions,” Yoganand added.
The good thing was that the check list was intact and the letters were not thrown out, which helped us in delivering the mails, he said.
