A four-month-old baby admitted to ESI Hospital, Rajajinagar, for treatment died on Thursday. The parents and relatives of the child staged a protest at the hospital alleging negligence by doctors.

According to Lankesh, the father of the baby, his son was not keeping well since Tuesday and was taken to hospital the next day.

“The doctor explained us the condition of the baby and child was doing well on Wednesday night. However, he was put on ventilator and he died on Thursday.” The protesters said the doctors did not take care of the child.

However Dr S L Vig, Medical Superintendent of the hospital said the baby was brought to hospital very late and had 50-50 chances of survival.

“We had given all the treatment possible to the baby. The infection in the lungs was too severe and the baby could not recover from it,” he added.
