Bengaluru: The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has sought an independent, third-party quality audit of the asphalting works carried out at the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout (NPKL) following concerns raised on social media over road quality at several locations.

In a letter dated December 23, 2025, addressed to the Director of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), the BDA requested the institute to depute a competent technical team to conduct a comprehensive quality audit of the completed asphalting works across the layout.

The authority stated that road asphalting has been undertaken in all blocks of NPKL and that a majority of the stretches have been completed. However, senior BDA officials decided to order an independent audit after multiple social media posts flagged issues such as undulated roads, improperly placed transformers, and poor workmanship.

As part of the audit, BDA engineers will facilitate inspections, while the IISc team will be free to carry out all necessary field tests and sampling. The cost of the audit will be borne by the BDA.

According to the letter, the tentative timeline for conducting the quality audit is the first week of January.
