City students have performed exceptionally well in the Class X examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the results of which were declared on Monday.
While many schools recorded centum pass percentages, a number of students secured the maximum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 10.
Results were declared only for schools in Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram regions. The results of other regions will be out on Tuesday.
At Delhi Public School (North), Yelahanka, 63 of the 306 students who appeared for the exam secured a CGPA of 10. Another 106 students scored between 9 and 9.8. Saurav Zangeneh, a student of the school, was one of the 63 to notch up the highest score.
“I did not prepare much for the exam and started just two to three weeks before it began. I had a basic idea of science and math as I regularly participate in science and math competitions,” he said. Saurav wants to pursue biochemistry at Harvard University or Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
At Kendriya Vidyalaya, DRDO, a number of students secured a CGPA of 10. Rhiya Singh is one. Speaking to Deccan Herald, Rhiya said: “The preparatory exams and sample question papers helped me a lot. Although I want to pursue law as my career, I will take up science in Class 11.” Of the 185 students who took the exam at Kendriya Vidyalaya, as many as 45 secured a CGPA of 10.
Of the 87 students at National Public School in HSR Layout, 33 per cent of the class got a perfect 10. One of the students who secured the score was Ayesha Fathima.
“I devoted a fixed time to studies everyday and practised maths everyday. Therefore, I did not have to sweat it out during the exam and was more or less relaxed,” said Ayesha who wants to take up science. Pursuing Computer Engineering at either an IIT or NIT is Ayesha’s ultimate goal.
Anudruth Manjunath, another topper from DPS, (South), Kanakapura Road, gives credit to the cumulative effort of his teachers, parents and hard work for his centum score. “I followed a basic study routine of around two hours and needed practice only in maths.
Otherwise, exams were quite easy. I would like to study Artificial Intelligence or Aeronautics in Harvard, Yale or Princeton,” said Anudruth.
