Bangalore University (BU) has issued an advisory to students and parents not to take admission in its affiliated colleges for unauthorised courses.
Students have been warned against taking admission in Bachelor of Business Administration (Aviation Management), Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance Specialisation), BCom (Insurance and Actuarial Studies), BCom (Honours), BCom (Logistics and Supply Chain Management) courses for the 2017-18 academic year.
“We have not given any college permission to begin these new courses,” said an official in BU. There were discussions about introducing these new courses but that plan is still at an early stage. No college has applied to us to start these courses this year,” the official said. The University officials have not named the colleges but they have received information that some have placed advertisements about the new courses. The reopening of affiliated colleges for undergraduate courses has been rescheduled to July 10 from July 5. The deadline has been extended four times now. The BU official said that this was because the results of the UG semester exams were not ready.
“If we reopen the college, lecturers will not be able to come for the valuation. The results will be ready soon,” the official said.
The last date for submission of applications for admission to postgraduate courses has also been extended to July 17. Classes are to start from August 7.
