BBMP clears 'Times Square' project

The BBMP council on Monday approved the proposed Bengaluru Times Square project.

The civic body has allocated Rs 10 crore in the budget for the project which will come up at Brigade Road-Opera House junction on Residency Road.

Meanwhile, the council also approved the revised BBMP budget.

The budget is now pegged at Rs 10,208 crore from the earlier Rs 9,322.48 crore. The revised outlay includes a few new projects and development works.

Some new inclusions are allocation for Shivakumara Swamy Jayanthi celebrations, establishment of reverse osmosis (RO) plant in each ward, construction of Bengaluru Arch at eight entry points for the city, construction of union building for BBMP retired officials, financial assistance to Press Club of Bengaluru and development works near Kavika factory at a cost of Rs 1 crore.

The penalty for unauthorised road cutting by OFC companies has also been hiked.
