BBMP contract worker beats traffic cop

A head constable was injured after he was assaulted by a drunk BBMP contract worker near Vasanathapura Cross on Kanakapura Road on Wednesday night. The suspect is Naveen Gowda, a resident of JP Nagar.

Narayanappa - attached to the Kumaraswamy Layout traffic police station - was manning the signal near Vasanthapura Cross. At around 8 pm, he noticed Gowda, who was riding a two-wheeler, brushing past a car. The car driver stopped Gowda. The duo left the vehicles in the middle of the road and started arguing.

Narayanappa asked them to remove their vehicles, as it was causing a traffic jam. Gowda started assaulting Narayanappa and landed several blows on his face. The policeman fell to the ground. The public rushed to his help and informed the Subramanyapura police, who shifted Narayanappa to a hospital. 

The doctors at the hospital have kept Narayanappa under observation as he has suffered injuries on his face. The doctors are examining if he has head injuries and internal injuries. The Subramanyapura police registered a case and arrested Gowda, who had consumed alcohol beyond permissible limits.
