Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Thursday said there will be not be any delay in the elections to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

Speaking to reporters at the KPCC office, he said the government has received a draft report on the delimitation of BBMP wards from Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner recently. The report will soon be notified inviting objections, if any, from public. The report will be submitted to the State Election Commission (SEC) once it is finalised, he added.

The term of current the BBMP Council will expire by April end, and the elections will have to be conducted before the date. The SEC had urged the government to provide the final delimitation report and a report on reservation of wards by mid January this year so that it can start making preparations for elections.

He said the government has directed all urban local bodies, including the BBMP, to take steps to implement the Akrama-Sakrama scheme.
