Bengaluru: Ahead of the monsoon season, the BBMP on Monday launched a 10-day cleanliness drive across the city.
As part of the drive, the BBMP's offshoot Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) has started cleaning garbage from the city's roadsides and vacant sites.
To meet the expenditure of the special drive, the civic body has deducted the payment of contractors who are responsible for collecting waste from households.
BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath said the drive is being supervised by the zonal commissioners of all eight zones.
The civic body has also started clearing construction and demolition waste by using JCBs and compactors.
