Chief Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao and Zonal Commissioner (East) Snehal R visited the area in June.

“We saw how the flyover and heavy traffic disconnect Domlur from Indiranagar. We are exploring solutions and hope to submit a report within a week,” Snehal said. The project is expected to cost Rs 5 crore.

The Bangalore Political Action Committee (B.PAC) has also urged the BBMP to improve connectivity.

“The flyover acts as a barrier between Domlur, Koramangala and Indiranagar. Residents struggle to cross even short distances without vehicles. It is unsafe to walk,” said Revathy Ashok, Managing Trustee and CEO, B.PAC.

Due to poor access, residents take up to 20 minutes to cover 500 metres.

B.PAC has proposed seven interventions towards Indiranagar, Koramangala, Trinity Circle, and Marathahalli. Suggestions include high-rise pedestrian crossings with rumble strips, connecting walkways, ramp access, refuge island, and a skywalk.

Pedestrian walkways atop the flyover are not feasible, Snehal said. “The carriageway is too narrow, traffic is heavy, and risks are too high,” she added.
