“The Supreme Court has not directed to cancel the polls. It has only asked the Government to approach the division bench of the High Court. Instead of obeying the order, the entire election process has been cancelled,” he said.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, he alleged that the ruling BJP has lost confidence to face the people. Moreover, by delaying the polls, it wants to loot tax-payers’ money in the name of Bangalore development.

Kiss them?
Reacting to CM Yeddyurappa’s criticism that Opposition parties were not cooperating with the government to run the legislature session smoothly, Siddaramaiah questioned: “Should I kiss them? What does the government expect me to do?”

Being the Opposition leader, he said, he was compelled to protest against the misdeeds of the government in the House.

“There may be some stray incidents of unruly behaviour by members in the House. I don’t approve of them. But the government is trying to highlight those incidents and blaming the Opposition parties,” he stated.
