The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decided to upgrade the pavements on the Mahatma Gandhi (MG) Road.

As part of the road upgrading project, the workers of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike removed the kerb stones from the footpath on Wednesday.

The work is being executed by the Road Infrastructure division of the Mahanagara Palike.
The Chief Engineer of the Road Infrastructure Division K T Nagaraj said that the improvement of the road was on the cards and hence, the Palike has taken up the work.

Nagaraj, however, clarified that the exercise is not part of the Tender SURE project.

This is despite the fact that then district incharge Minister Ramalinga Reddy had announced that MG Road was among the 50 roads in the City, which will be taken up for upgrade under the Tender SURE project.
