Ramakrishna, an officer at the Ramanagar District B Backward Class and Minority Welfare Department, was caught while he was allegedly accepting Rs 25,000 from Bettaswamy, a contractor, to clear bills. The latter had supplied food to hostels maintained by the Department and had a pending bill of Rs four lakh. The officer reportedly demanded Rs 50,000 to release money and it was ultimately bargained at Rs 25,000. Bettaswamy had lodged a complaint, said Deputy Commissioner, Lokayukta, Syed Riyaz.
