A first year BCom student of Nitte Meenakshi College allegedly hanged herself at her house in Sampigehalli police limits on Saturday.
Maithri, 19, was one of the three children of Sampath Kumar, a weaver and resident of Agrahara Layout. She reportedly had an affair with Darshan, 22, a resident of Kogilu village, for the last two years.
Darshan, who is employed by a firm at the Bengaluru International Airport, reportedly refused to marry her. She was upset as she felt cheated, and hanged herself with a saree when she was alone at home.
There was no death note, and based on Sampath Kumar’s complaint, the police booked Darshan.
