The officers to face action are Joint Director Krishnegowda, Superintendent Lakshminarasimhaiah, chief warden Hanumantharayappa and warden Bhagyalakshmi, who have been placed under the suspension for their alleged negligence leading to the death of more than 100 inmates.
The inquiry was initiated against the four following massive financial irregularities and maladministration both by the primary health centre and the Centre. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is looking into the matter.
Speaking to Deccan Herald, a senior official from the CID said: “We cannot register criminal cases on our own. First the cases have to be registered in Kamakshipalya police station under which the Baggars Centre falls and then the same can be transferred to the CID.”
The minister also said the biometric management system to maintain record of the inmates will start on Saturday.
