The High Court of Karnataka on Friday expressed its displeasure over the notice issued by Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) to a brewery located 8 km away from Bellandur lake.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice S K Mukherjee and Justice P S Dinesh Kumar asked why KSPCB was harassing breweries located far away from the actual lake area.

TBH Breweries India Pvt Ltd has approached the court challenging the notice issued by KSPCB to close down it brewery as it was letting untreated effluent into the drains leading to the Bellandur lake. The untreated effluent is one of the reasons for froth formation in the lake. The bench ordered notice to the state government and the Board and adjourned hearing.
