Bengaluru: Panic prevailed at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Hebbal, after the school received an email threatening a bomb blast and claiming that three RDX-based improvised explosive devices (IEDs) had been planted on the campus.
The threat was later declared a hoax after a thorough search by the police.
Sadashivanagar police said the email was sent to the school’s official email address in the early hours of January 7 from arundalekumar@hotmail.com. The sender claimed the IEDs would explode at 1.35 pm.
Following a complaint by school principal Anand Prakash, police conducted a detailed search of the premises with bomb disposal and dog squads. No explosives were found, police said.
Incidentally, the same email was used to send a similar bomb threat to the Regional Passport Office (RPO), Bengaluru, on January 6, as per police investigations.
In July 2025, around 40 private schools across Bengaluru had received similar bomb threat emails.
