Bengaluru: The Viveknagar police arrested two men and recovered a Swift Dzire car and three mobile phones worth Rs 8 lakh that were snatched from a cab driver early Wednesday.

The driver, a resident of Kamakshamma Layout, Yelahanka Old Town, said that two men on a two-wheeler blocked his car near the Ejipura signal on August 27, assaulted him, and fled with the vehicle and phones. A case was registered at the Viveknagar police station.

Acting swiftly, the police arrested Sreekanth, 23, and Hemanth Kumar, 27, of TC Palya, KR Puram, on Thursday. They confessed to the crime, and the stolen items were recovered.

The police said both are habitual offenders. Sreekanth has three cases in the city and is on the rowdy list at the KR Puram and Avalahalli stations. Kumar has a case registered in Annapoorneshwari Nagar.

The suspects were produced in court on Friday and remanded to judicial custody.
