Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a stark fall in mercury across the state but particularly over South Interior Karnataka. Other regions too will experience cooler temperatures well below normal.

Winter in Bengaluru

The city experienced mild warmth during daytime with cooler nights and mornings. Bengaluru City recorded a temperature of 17.5 degree Celsius, 1.5 degree below the normal. Even Kempegowda International Airport witnessed crisp winter mornings, with minimum temperatures hitting 16.6 degrees Celsius—1 degree Celsius below normal.

IMD reported that Belagavi witnessed the lowest minimum temperature  at 11.2 degrees Celsius.

For the next 3-4 days, similar conditions will persist over Bidar, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Bagalkote, and Kalaburagi.

The minimum temperatures too will remain 2-3 degree Celsius below the standard norm.

However, skies in Bengaluru are likely to remain clear for the next 3-4 days with misty or foggy early mornings. The temperatures will hover between 17-20 degree Celsius.

After weeks of humidity, Bengaluru residents have welcomed the shift in weather. Early morning walkers have noticed a slight crisp in the air along with comfortable warm winter sun.

IMD claims these weather conditions are consistent with with post-monsoon wind patterns and reduced moisture levels. As the Monsoon recedes from the state, it gives way for northeasterly winds to dominate and cool the interiors of the region.
