Bengaluru: The police have arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly stabbing his ex-fiancée after she refused to marry him and ended their engagement.
The suspect, Ajay, a resident of JJ Nagar in western Bengaluru, attacked Pooja, 23, near her relative’s house on January 12, the police said. She sustained injuries to her hand and shoulder, but is now stable and has been discharged from the hospital.
Investigators said that Ajay and Pooja were engaged to be married. However, she ended the relationship, leading to tensions between the two.
On January 12, Ajay visited her in an attempt to reconcile, but she refused to engage with him.
“Angered by her response, he attacked her with a knife, causing injuries. She is now out of danger,” an officer stated.
Ajay has been charged with attempted murder and taken into custody. A local court has remanded him to judicial custody pending further investigation.
