A treat is in store for poetry lovers as the Bengaluru Poetry Festival (BPF) will be held on August 4 and 5 on the theme of ‘Poetic verse’.

Poets and dignitaries from across the world, including A J Thomas, Alvin Pang, Anand Lal, Aneesh Vidyashankar, D C Rajappa, Usha Uthup, Vishal Bharadwaj and Shabana Azmi, will be in attendance for the third edition of the BPF.

There will be a potpourri of events that include workshops on ‘Art of writing Haiku’ by Sourav Roy, ‘Delicate balances in a short poem’ by Anamika and one by Michael Creighton on what makes a poem go ‘pop’. There will be some workshops for children as well. Amar Chitra Katha is conducting a workshop for children aged above 5 while Funky Rainbow will conduct a workshop on ‘Rhyme and Reason Poetry’ for those aged 8-13.

All the poetry activities will be jammed with musical concerts. Violinist Aneesh Vidyashankar will inaugurate the festival while there will be musical performances by Neela Bhagwat, Usha Uthup, Manish Agarwal, Kavish Seth and by German poet-singer Ulrike Almut Sanding in collaboration with the Pune-based band ALIF.
