The Nelamanagala town police arrested a 40-year-old private tutor for lashing an eight-year-old girl on Wednesday.

According to the police, the accused, Latha, a resident of Subhash Nagar, has been arrested for beating up a second standard student in a tuition class. On Tuesday evening, Latha noticed that the minor girl had come for tuition without completing her home work. She got furious and thrashed the girl with a leather belt.

The victim went home and complained to her father, Shivakumar, a businessman. Shivakumar noticed bruises on his daughter’s body and approached the police and registered a complaint.

During investigation, it was found that Latha used to hit students for not completing home work and used to constantly abuse them. The students were scared to inform their parents about Latha’s behaviour.

Based on the complaint, the Nelamangala town police has registered a case under Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and Juvenile Justice Act.
