Bengaluru: Karnataka Nataka Academy, in association with the Government of Karnataka and the National School of Drama - Delhi, will organise an eight-day-long international drama festival at Kalagrama (Mallathahalli) in the city, starting February 1.
Called 'Bharat Ranga Mahotsav' (BRM), the theatre festival will feature eight plays over the course of eight days in both Indian and foreign languages.
Some of the plays slated to be staged include 'Taj Mahal ka Tender,' a Hindi satire by NSD Repertory Company; 'A Friend Beyond the Fence', a Kannada play by Kalabhi Theatre, and 'Yayati' in Hindi by Bagban Theatre, among others.
Additionally, as a part of the theatre festival, a 'Ranga Parishe' will also be organised comprising street plays, theatre workshops, Yakshaghana performances, poetry recitals, and musical shows, including an exhibition of sculptures and paintings.
While the Bengaluru leg of BRM spans eight days, the entire festival spans a period of 20 days. It kicked off on January 28 and is set to conclude on February 16. It will feature over 200 productions. "One Expression, Supreme Creation,” is the slogan for Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2025, which resonates with the spirit of unity in creative expression and the oneness of all.
Noted actor and NSD alumnus Rajpal Yadav has been named the Rang Doot (Festival Ambassador) for this year.
