Bengaluru: Namma Metro has penalised a woman passenger Rs 500 for eating inside a metro train.

The passenger — a regular between Madavara and Magadi Road — was filmed eating on the train on Saturday. The video was shot by a fellow passenger and shared on social media. 

Security staff fined her when she showed up at the Madavara metro station on Monday morning, according to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). 

The BMRCL further stated that the consumption of food and beverages is prohibited inside metro stations and trains. The policy is aimed at preventing littering, safeguarding hygiene and helping maintain a pleasant atmosphere for all commuters.
