Bescom men head to Odisha to help restore power

A team of 317 Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) officials left for Odisha on Monday to restore power supply network in the cyclone-hit state.

A press release said 100 teams of total 1,000 men will be sent to Odisha. Of this, the first batch of 317 men, comprising powermen, joint engineer and assistant engineer left for the state.

Rajoji Rao, executive engineer, will coordinate with the teams. Venkatesh Kumar, chief general manager (operations), is the nodal officer for restoration. The Indian Railways has started Bhubaneswar Express, a special train, to enable travel of the teams to Odisha. A WhatsApp Group comprising officials from Odisha, Bescom and Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited has also been formed.
