Two days of varied events were held at the RV Institute of Management as part of its inter-collegiate management fest, ‘Prestantia 2014’, and cultural fest, Jaanapada Matthu Saamskruthika Habba, recently.
The management fest provided a platform for students to showcase their managerial skills and talents and gave an opportunity for budding managers to test their creativity.
The fest, which challenged the age-old conventions of management outlook, encouraged an out-of-the-box thought process.
The events conducted included the best manager event ‘Perfectus’, the finance event ‘Percipio’, the HR event ‘Personia’, the marketing event ‘Presto’ and the business quiz ‘Percipio’.
The Habba, which was organised by Abhihita, the cultural committee of RVIM, intended to keep alive classical traditions.
It had interesting events like folk and classical dances and songs.
The other competitions included fine arts, rangoli and painting. The students were very excited to have been part of the fests.
Sowmya S, a BBM student of SSMRV College who took part in the rangoli competition, said that she had a really nice experience.
“The designs that were done were all traditional ones and it was nice to see such festive mood,” she said.
Bringing back tradition to the forefront was an exciting experience, said Rasika Mary, a BCom student from Maharani’s Arts, Commerce and Management College.
"I performed the folk dance Ranga Kunitha, where six people performed, and it was
a wonderful experience. I also took part in folk singing where I sang Sharanu Sharanu
En Devo and a group song,” she said.
Other students like Kavya G Rao from National Degree College said that it was a good attempt by the host college to have such a grand cultural extravaganza.
“It is a good encouragement for folk art which is fast
disappearing. I performed bharatanatyam and a folk dance at the fest,” she said.
Even the students who took part in the management fest were full of praises for it.
Sachin Jayaraj from Surana Degree College, who won the best manager event, said, “I’ve been to many fests and this one was different. From the moment we stepped into the campus, the faculty and the students were involved in making the other colleges feel welcome. Also, despite the fest being for just one day, all the tasks were conducted in a
focused manner and the stress round was the best one I’ve ever attended.”
