The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) received a lukewarm response from corporates and government organisations to a meeting convened on January 25 to review the plastic ban. Many corporates including MTR Foods, Maiyas, Bisleri, Pepsico, Amazon, KMF and Parle did not attend the meet.

KSPCB chairman Lakshman said that under the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016, no producer shall manufacture or use plastic even for multi-layer packing of commodities without registration from the KSPCB.

Those who attended the meeting were informed about the provisions of act and action contemplated against violations. The board is planning to hold another meeting on February 11.
