The BJP has criticised the State government for setting up the Vision Group under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and threatened to take legal action if the Government Order for setting up this group is not rescinded.

BJP MLA from Rajajinagar Suresh Kumar, along with the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Mayor B S Satyanaryana, on Thursday said the setting up of the Vision Group without involving the Mayor or any of the elected representatives at the Palike Council was “unconstitutional”.

“The setting up of the Vision Group, that virtually supercedes the BBMP, is outside the purview of the Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act (KMC) of 1976. If the government does not rescind this order, the BJP will take all possible measures to protest the politically motivated move. We will even consider seeking legal recourse,” said Suresh Kumar.

The party has alleged that the government decision for setting up a Vision Group was politically motivated. With the BJP in a majority at the BBMP council, the Congress regime under Siddaramaiah is trying to wrest control of the development of Bangalore from the BBMP council which is the implementing agency, claimed Suresh Kumar.
