BMTC drive against ticketless travel

The checking staff of the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation has intensified checking of buses operating in and around the City to keep tabs on ticketless travelling.

In April, a penality of Rs 13,06,564 was collected as 7,929 passengers were penalised for ticketless travelling, after a check on a total of 26,770 trips. Also 5,218 cases were booked against conductors for dereliction of duty.

During the aforesaid period the checking staff have penalised 1,920 male passengers for occupying seats reserved for female passengers and imposed a fine of Rs 1,92,000.
