Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) said it had won the 19th National Digital Transformation Award 2025 for empowering visually impaired passengers through the 'Onboard' assistive technology system.

The 'Onboard' system addresses everyday challenges faced by visually impaired passengers — such as difficulty in identifying bus arrivals, boarding/alighting cues and route guidance. Several states have expressed interest in adopting the model within their own transport networks, the BMTC said.
