As part of the event, the Bhovi community honoured 268 students, who performed well in their SSLC, PUC and other examinations in the year 2010-2011, with cash prizes.

Home Minister RAshoka said the State would soon set up a board for the development of Bhovi community people. The government has received a proposal from the community leaders and a positive decision would be taken soon, he added.

Government support is crucial for social, economic and academic development of any community. Those who have excelled in different fields should help their community members, he said.

Former Minister Aravind Limbavali demanded the State government to construct bhavans for the community in every district and establish a separate board for the community development.

Limbavali submitted a proposal to Ashoka requesting him to take steps to allot a BDA site for the construction of educational institutions run by the community and induct two MLAs from the community into the Cabinet.
