Bengaluru: The Bagalagunte police have recovered 99 grams of stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 9.9 lakh after busting a six-member burglary gang.

Complainant Mangala, a hotel owner from Bagalagunte, told the police that, on July 12, thieves had broken into her rented home by bending the lock and looted gold and cash while she was at work.

The police registered a case under BNS Section 331(3) (lurking house-trespass or housebreaking) and began investigations.

Acting on a tip-off, they arrested 43-year-old Venkatesh on July 21, followed by suspected kingpin Krishna alias Mori Raja, 52, on July 23. Three more suspects — Harish alias Appu, 34, Nagaraja alias Devru , 29, and Pratap, 22 — were later arrested.

Investigations revealed that Kavita, 33, who had a loan agreement with Mangala, tipped off her brother Venkatesh about the house.

The gang, led by Krishna, a repeat offender with over 20 prior cases across Bengaluru, then carried out the burglary.

The police said the seized gold also included items linked to another case.
