A four-year-old boy playing in front of his house on Bhajantri Road near Varthur was mowed down by a goods vehicle Saturday evening.
According to police, Madan was playing with his sister in front of his house when a speeding goods auto transporting drinking water cans rammed the boy killing him instantaneously.
Madan’s father, Manjunath, a construction worker, had been to work while his mother was busy with domestic chores when the accident occurred.
According to Whitefield traffic police who visited the spot, the driver saw the boy coming in the way of the vehicle and honked incessantly, but there wasn’t enough space on the road to take a deviation to avoid the boy. He fled the spot abandoning the vehicle.
The body was shifted to Vaidehi Hospital where autopsy will be conducted on Sunday. Madan was the only son of Manjunath. A case has been registered.
