After repeated hoax bomb threats in the city last week and a false alarm over an explosive in the baggage of a passenger at Mangaluru airport on Tuesday, the JP Nagar residents also had one such experience on Wednesday morning when a passerby spotted suspicious a object in the area.

A broken power bank and wire wrapped in plastic cover near a playschool at JP Nagar, created panic among the school staff and the residents .

The residents called the police helpline, informing them about the suspicious object found near the school. The bomb disposal squad was rushed to the spot and after the examination they found that it was just a battery bank.

S D Sharanappa, Deputy Commissioner of Police, (South), clarified, “Preliminary examination has revealed that there is nothing to panic, it is old non-working broken power bank.”

The Putttenahalli police have registered a case and are verifying the CCTV camera footage of the playschool to trace the person who placed the object to create panic among residents.
