The Bangalore University Syndicate which met on Tuesday deferred its decision on the reports of expert committees on BEd colleges.

University Vice-Chancellor B Thimme Gowda said the matter has been referred to the Academic Council meeting on Thursday for its opinion. The Syndicate will arrive at the final decision on Friday, he added.

The first committee headed by V Sudhakar from the English and Foreign Language University, Hyderabad, had visited 19 colleges. The second committee, headed by A S Seetharam from Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, had visited 21 colleges. The third committee headed by Nagappa P Shahpur from Karnatak University, Dharwad, visited 26 colleges. The recent committee headed by Nagappa was formed after several colleges, which had been blacklisted for poor infrastructure, had alleged that the earlier committees were biased.

Due to the uncertainty over the affiliation status, examinations had been postponed and the course work was also delayed.

The Academic Council will meet on May 16 and take a final decision on the matter. It was also decided to hold the convocation on June 29.
