Police cracked a case of burglary hours after it was committed, and arrested the suspect on Sunday morning. Nagaraju alias Matthi Naga, 26, from Goripalya, is said to be a habitual offender. He was jailed and released on bail on February 1.

On Saturday, he allegedly made away with diamond and gold ornaments from an industrialist Kiran Kumar’s house in Mahalakshmi Layout. The incident occurred when Kumar’s wife had gone for shopping. Kumar was also away at work, hence no one was present in the house.

The suspect, police said, gained entry by breaking open the back door. The couple discovered the burglary after returning in the evening. They then called police. Finger print experts too reached the spot.

Based on the evidence collected, police arrested Nagaraju on Sunday morning. Police claimed that the suspect had “confessed” to the crime. The stolen jewellery too has been recovered from him.
