People from all walks of life celebrated Deepavali with much enthusiasm. As a result, heaps of burnt crackers were dumped on the sidewalks.

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike has been plying large number of trucks to clear the garbage at the earliest. “So far, we have been able to handle the garbage without much trouble. Trucks have been doing extra rounds to places where complaints have been recorded,” informed Joint Commissioner (East) Venkatramana Naik.

Garbage collected from Bangalore East is taken to Mavallipura dumping yard, which is already overburdened .

Till Sunday evening, the BBMP call centre had received only 10 calls pertaining to garbage related problems. Maximum number of calls were received from the Chickpet division,which witnessed burning of crackers on a large scale.
