With an objective to motivate youths to enrol themselves for voter registration, the Bangalore Political Action Committee (BPAC) launched a month-long campaign in the City on Thursday.
Students from 31 colleges in the City will participate in various competitions in the campaign, aimed at encouraging them to vote for a better future and a better Bangalore.
Mohandas Pai, Vice-President of BPAC, said “ The youth must come out and vote and make the change. Electing the right people will ensure good governance and economy, which will lead to creation of more jobs and a secured future for you.”
He said that in India, youngsters in the age group of 18-30 years make up for 30 crores of the total population while youngsters in the age group of 18-22 years make up for 12 crores. “Their votes can make a huge difference,” Pai added.
The BBMP Commissioner Lakshminarayana said the Palike would provide drop boxes in every college along with registration forms so that youngsters can register themselves as voters.
He said there are over one million people in Bangalore who have not enrolled themselves as voters but should register themselves before April 1.
